Workshop Agenda: Detailed Overview
Day 1: Fundamentals of Scale Development
- Basic Concepts: Understand the foundational principles of scale development, including theoretical frameworks and measurement constructs.
- Scale Translation vs. Development: Learn to distinguish between translating existing scales for diverse populations and developing new scales tailored to specific research needs.
Day 2: Reliability and Validity
- Reliability: Explore methods for assessing scale reliability, including internal consistency, test-retest reliability, and inter-rater reliability.
- Content Validity Index (CVI) and Content Validity Ratio (CVR): Learn to calculate these critical indices for evaluating the relevance and representativeness of scale items.
Day 3: Exploratory Factor Analysis (EFA)
- Understanding EFA: Dive deep into Exploratory Factor Analysis to identify underlying structures within your scale.
- Hands-On Application: Use practical examples and software demonstrations (e.g., JASP or SPSS) to extract and interpret factors.
Day 4: Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA) and Appraisal of Published Articles
- Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA): Gain proficiency in using CFA to test hypothesized factor structures and validate your scale.
- Appraisal of Published Articles: Review and critically appraise published studies on scale development and validation to understand best practices.
